STMA Youth Wrestling

Our youth wrestling programming has been an integral part to our overall success as a wrestling community at STMA. Since 1969, we have aimed to develop youth athletes for success on and off the mat. We offer various training levels throughout the year.

Starting in mid-November, we begin with our Part I (Folkstyle) season. This has training on Mondays for Pre-K & Kindergarten, Tuesdays for 1st & 2nd grade, and Tuesdays/Thursdays for 3rd-6th graders. Part I runs through the end of December. Starting in January, Part II begins. Part II is aimed at more advanced techniques for athletes training for state tournaments. Part II runs until early March.

In mid-March through mid-May, we offer Freestyle and Greco-Roman training. In 2024 this was ran through Grynd Wrestling and owner Jake Allar. In September-October, Grynd has also offered fall practices for those wishing to begin their season early.

Who we are

As a youth program, we maintain the basic values of:

(1) Provide opportunities for all wrestlers to improve in the sport of wrestling

(2) Recruit, Retain, and Promote participation in the world's oldest sport

(3) Create, develop, and grow a strong community

(4) Teach skills for athletes to use on the mat and carry over off the mat
